Dr. Kouguell Maurice Kouguell, Ph.D., FBHA, BCETS, completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the City College of New York and post graduate work at Teachers College, Columbia University in the Department of Family Life. He holds a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy. His training includes an internship and residency in Clinical Psychology at the Northside Center for Child Development in NY and an internship in Family Life at Teachers College, Columbia University. As a psychologist he has worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics and schools.

Prof. Kouguell served on the faculties of the City College of New York, Teachers College-Columbia University, Molloy College and supervised doctoral candidates in clinical practices at Adelphi, Hofstra and St. John’s Universities in the New York area. In addition to his academic and clinical experience, he has also trained in Hypnotherapy, Guided Imagery, Neurolinguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy, Touch for Health, Hypno-Bio Energy, Rekei, Focusing, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Shamanism et al. He is the originator of Intuitive Hypnotherapy.

Maurice Kouguell holds certifications in hypnosis from most of the prestigious organizations including the International Medical and Dental Association and the National Guild of Hypnotists. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Professional Hypnotherapists, the National Board for Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Anesthesiology and the International Hypnosis Federation. He also holds certification in the following: Behavior Therapist, Master Addiction Counselor and Forensic Criminal Justice Specialist. He is a Diplomate and Board certified member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a member of the Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts and a board member of The Professional Board of Hypnotherapy.

Dr. Kouguell’s internship and training program at the Brookside Center for Counseling and Hypnotherapy has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence by the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association.

Maurice Kouguell is the author of three texts which have been adopted in graduate schools as well as in health related facilities. They are: Figure Drawing: A Screening and Evaluative Tool in Counseling and Hypnosis, DAPTH Accessing the Unconscious in the Practice of Hypnosis and Counseling and Dealing With The Unexpected:Transcribed Cases from the Files of Dr. Kouguell. He is a regular contributor to the Journal of Hypnotism and Hypnogenesis.

Dr. Kouguell maintains a private practice and lectures extensively. He is fluent in French and Russian. He is a professional violist and an avid chamber music player.
